Boarding Facilities

Dormitories

Dormitories

Quality accommodation is a priority for all our leaners hence the school has five boys’ dormitory blocks and seven dormitories for the girls. The school takes pride in one of the spacious girls dormitories named after Allan Maker a Responsible Authority member from South Africa. Of great achievement at the boys’ side the school has succeeded in tiling three dormitories. The Boarding Master and Matron are overseers of the day to day running of boarding facilities.

Dining hall

There are two dining halls conveniently located in the school. The dining halls are furnished with 10 seater tables and benches. Food is prepared in electrically powered oil heated pots in the kitchen located between both dining halls. One dining hall is dedicated for use by boys and the other for girls. The dining halls were recently tilled in 2015 making them cleaner and conducive for feeding. The halls are used for multi-purpose functions in the school.

Ablution facilities

The school has conveniently placed ablution facilities for both males and females. There are 18 water closets for girls and 15 for boys within their respective dormitories. The girls have 1 x 6 multi compartment Blair toilets and a single incinerator whilst boys’ have 1 x 9 multi compartment Blair toilets and five urinals. In addition, the school has 2 x 4 toilets for leaners. However, as a school these are not yet enough to complement the growing population of pupils hence efforts are being muted to address the need.

Water sources

The school water supply has greatly improved. The school now relies on four sources which are; the school is connected to ZINWA which is complimented by two electrified pumps and one of them was donated through the courteous of the Honourable Member of Parliament for Umguza District Dr O. Mpofu and the recent Solar powered pump on the eastern side of perimeter fence of the school. The school also has, in total a 3 x 1 000 litre, 2 x 10 000 and 5 x 5 000 litre Jojo water tanks and brick built reservoir that carries a capacity of 50 000 litres of water. All these are meant to enhance easy accessibility of the precious mineral (water). Therefore, at the moment the school has made stern efforts driven towards addressing the perennial water challenges. Soon the water challenges will be a thing of the past.
